Sora Selects: Maybe I Got Carried Away by Panaviscope

Maybe I Got Carried Away is an experimental short film that fuses playful visuals with a surreal narrative. It was created by @panaviscope‬ using Sora generated shots.

The story follows a protagonist who begins releasing vibrant balloons into the sky as a personal act of rebellion against her city’s monotony. However, her unchecked passion soon leads to chaos, as the oversize balloons start to collapse, causing destruction and raising questions about the line between creativity and excess. With its retro-inspired aesthetic and delicate humor, the film offers a poetic exploration of ambition, joy, and unintended consequences.

Alex Duloz, aka Panaviscope, is a visual artist, technologist, and multi-instrumentalist from Geneva, Switzerland. Alex composes, sings, and performs all the instruments on his tracks, and uses his skills in 3D, classical animation, drawing, and generative coding using JavaScript.

This fusion of technical expertise and creative artistry allows him to push boundaries, employing techniques such as depth mapping, granular synthesis, and advanced AI tools.

The result is work exploring timeless themes, blending technology with a nostalgia to create pieces that resonate emotionally while showcasing cutting-edge innovation.

Synthetic Youth: Takenoko Zoku · Made by Emi Kusano with Sora

Emi Kusano x Sora Showcase

The project was inspired by the Takenoko-zoku, a fashion group from the 1980s.

Emi Kusano, a Tokyo-based multidisciplinary artist, creates hyperrealistic representations of collective and individual memories using AI technology. Her work, gracing the cover of WWD Japan and featured in Christie's and Gucci auctions, has been internationally exhibited at venues like the Saatchi Gallery, 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, and Grand Palais Immersif.

1️⃣ Sora’s most powerful when:
Sora allowed me to capture dynamic angles that likely wouldn’t have existed in the 1970s. The dance scenes, in particular, featured unpredictable movements unique to AI, creating a distinct charm that would be difficult for humans to replicate. It also maintained a cinematic texture, and the level of detail in each individual within the crowd was truly remarkable.

2️⃣ The most exciting thing about what I created:
The most exciting part was being able to transform the images I envisioned in my mind into a video using prompts. I became so immersed in this process that it felt like I was falling down a rabbit hole. After a while, even walking through the city felt like prompts were appearing in my vision.

3️⃣ What I was able to create that I couldn’t before:
It felt like bringing a camera into a past or future that never existed and time-traveling through those moments. This sensation is something I could never experience by simply directing a video myself.

4️⃣ My process looked like:
Sora allowed me to visualize concepts I had only imagined but never had the tools to express. Since it follows physical laws, I started considering the mass of objects and the kinds of environments that would match the atmosphere I wanted to create. This led to a fascinating shift in my thought process.

5️⃣ I want other artists to know:
Sora allows you to pursue visuals you’ve already imagined or explore completely unknown ones in your own unique language. However, merely combining AI’s shared visual “vocabulary” might result in ordinary outcomes. By crafting thoughtful combinations, you can create something entirely new and original.

Pile · Made by Bengt Tibert with Sora

Bengt Tibert x Sora Showcase

Bengt Tibert is an AI artist with a background as a Creative Director in advertising, focusing primarily on video. He is a Daily.xyz artist curated by Fellowship.xyz and the co-creator of AI OR DIE, the first fully AI-generated sketch comedy show, alongside Mind Wank and Nathan Boey.

1️⃣ Sora is most powerful when:
"What struck me most was the realistic physics. The objects seem tangible, like they exist in a physical space and have their own mass."

2️⃣ The most exciting thing about what I created is:
"The living environment and natural camera work make it feel like it was filmed in an existing, organic world. The crisp 1080p renders blew me away."

3️⃣ Something I was able to create that I couldn't create before:
"I was able to create a crowd interacting in a strange, but believable way. It’s a complex structure, but I wanted it to come across as simple and humorous, so it had to feel credible."

4️⃣ How long it took me to make this / what my process looked like:
"Sora is great at creating series of shots in a single output. Getting a variety of takes speeds up the process. I used the Re-Cut feature to pick the best ones and extended them. Working in PremierePro to layer sounds made with ElevenLabs was the longest part."

5️⃣ How Sora impact my creative process:
"My process has transformed. What used to feel like obstacles are now stepping stones. The ability to bring any idea to life is incredibly freeing."

6️⃣ What I want other artists to know about what it's like to use Sora:
"Sora does image 2 video!"

Surreal Elderhood · Made by Katsukokoiso.AI with Sora

Katsukokoiso.ai x Sora Showcase
Eugenio Marongiu, known as Katsukokoiso.ai in AI Creative world, is a professional photographer based in Milan, Italy, with over 16 years of experience. Specializing in AI-generated images and videos for two years, Eugenio bridges the gap between human creativity and artificial intelligence, creating unique works that combine artistic vision with cutting-edge technology.

1️⃣ Sora is most powerful when:
"Sora is incredible at rendering even the most absurd and surreal ideas with striking realism. It can literally bring my imagination to life. I was able to create something surreal with a level of realism I had never seen before."

2️⃣ The most exciting thing about what I created is:
"What excited me the most was the exceptional quality, detail, and realism—even in the surreal. The dynamic perspectives, camera movements, and visual evolutions were truly remarkable."

3️⃣ How Sora impacted the creative process:
"Typically, my workflow involves creating images and animating them afterward. With Sora, I’m finally able to fully embrace text-to-video generation because it interprets prompts with incredible precision, delivering outstanding results."

4️⃣ How long it took me to make this / what my process looked like:
"The process was quick in technical terms because Sora not only delivers an unprecedented level of quality but is also incredibly fast. The most time-consuming part, as always, was the conceptualization, testing, and editing. Overall, it took about two days."

5️⃣ What I want other artists to know about what it's like to use Sora:
"Using Sora feels like having an entire film crew at your fingertips. Its versatile features allow for the creation of incredible visuals, whether surreal or hyper-realistic, with outstanding quality."

Echoes of Grace · Kaku Drop with Sora

@KakuDropOfficial x Sora Showcase

Kaku Drop uses generative AI to create short films themed around “Japan,” “Women,” and “Dynamism.” With a unique aesthetic and seamless animations, their work captivates audiences, offering new perspectives and stories that transcend the boundaries of imagination and reality.

1️⃣ Sora is most powerful when:
“Sora was most effective in this project in handling dynamic camera work.”

2️⃣ The most exciting thing about what I created is:
“While many generative AIs struggle to create Japanese faces, Sora was able to produce beautiful Japanese faces.”

3️⃣ How Sora impacted the creative process:
“I work in video editing, and Sora has the potential to become one of my new video editing tools.”

4️⃣ How long it took me to make this / what my process looked like:
“Since it was my first project using Sora, it took about six days to complete. However, I believe I can create it in a shorter time next time. My production process involves using the Image to Video feature to add animations to AI-generated images. I then composite the generated videos using After Effects.”

5️⃣ What I want other artists to know about what it's like to use Sora:“Even those who are not skilled in VFX can easily create expressions using Sora!”

Sakura Automata · Made by Chaos GalerIA with Sora

Chaos GalerIA x Sora Showcase

Alexandre Balti is the creative mind behind Chaos GalerIA, exploring the intersection of art, science, and technology through AI-generated imagery. Each piece reflects his fascination with finding beauty and poetry in the uncanny, channeling it into visuals that challenge and inspire.

1️⃣ Sora is most powerful when:
“It brings my imaginative concepts to life, creating visual narratives in ways that were previously impossible, with an incredible amount of detail and precision. The fact that it is plugged on GPT-4o is truly a game-changer.”

2️⃣ The most exciting thing about what I created is:
“The almost infinite creative freedom, pushing the boundaries of digital art and allowing each individual to showcase their uniqueness. Also, I am fascinated by the sometimes surprising, unexpected visual outcomes Sora is generating. Finally, the awesome community around this project and the idea of being one of the lucky happy-few with access to it.”

3️⃣ How Sora impacted the creative process:
“Sora is turning my creative process into a collaborative dialogue between human imagination and machine capabilities. The time-efficiency also allows you to create all day, even without a computer.”

A State of Semi-Balance · Made by Jon Uriarte with Sora

Jon Uriarte x Sora Showcase

Jon Uriarte is a digital artist based in London with a career spanning more than 15 years in the film & TV industries. He holds a master's degree in Arts & Technologies of Image at the Paris VII University.

1️⃣ Sora is most powerful when:
“It's about finding the right balance between being specific about the exact look you want—an area where it really excels—and allowing yourself to be surprised by what emerges from it.”

2️⃣ The most exciting thing about what I created is:
“For this video I started first to work on the shots of people flying in plastic chairs, a recurring theme in my work. I was amazed by the visuals Sora created—the photographic quality, the texture. It creates an image that feels so organic with remarkable accuracy.”

3️⃣ How Sora impacted the creative process:
“I was surprised by how smoothly the process of developing an idea flowed. I had a clear vision of certain 'frames,' but as I worked on them, it became easy to imagine new ones. For me, it's very similar to writing or daydreaming.”

A Day in the Life of the Dolphin Co-Worker · Made by Liana Paberza with Sora

Liana Paberza, a Latvian-born fashion and print designer based in Copenhagen. Founder of Chimera Lab, she explores the boundaries between physical and digital realities, using AI as a creative tool to bring surreal, imaginative designs to life.

"A Day in the Life of the Dolphin Co-Worker"
This is a story of overwork, escapism, and the search for peace in a sea of tasks—told through the unlikely perspective of a dolphin who’s just trying to keep up. Through a series of humorous and ironic scenes, the film contrasts the desire to break free from the stress of constant multitasking with the relentless demands of productivity. Set against dreamy landscapes of beaches and waterfalls, the dolphin’s journey highlights the tension between needing to disconnect and facing everyday responsibilities. In this playful reimagining of my entrepreneurial journey, the dolphin embodies the surreal
experience of working with AI as a trusted 'co-worker .' It becomes an extension of my thoughts, stepping in to handle tasks that might otherwise feel overwhelming. It’s a collaborator, an extra brain, and sometimes, the only 'employee' that keeps everything moving forward. The video reflects how we navigate the pressures of work and the ever-present urge to just... escape.

Music by sharkwork.

Dreams · Made by Wayne Price and IN-Q with Sora

When AI meets poetry created by Wayne Price and IN-Q.

This is “Dreams” from IN-Q’s new poetry album, The Never Ending Now. This #Sora video was an experiment with director Wayne Price to see what happens when one of the oldest art-forms collaborates with one of the newest.

“Sora is most powerful when you finish a project that spans time and space, with elaborate costumes, locations, and characters, in a matter of hours. Simply impossible before now. I was attempting to nail my favorite tone which is hyper reality with a small dose of the fantastical. I wasn’t sure what was possible, and it took many attempts to get the gold. For this specific project, I was using the “archival” preset, which produced a retro documentary feel - grainy, handheld, somewhat washed out colors. I love this and leaned into the “80s nature documentary” feel. The fantastical elements are placed very subtly throughout the piece, with the key moment happening at the end, to coincide with the final line of IN-Q’s brilliant poem."

IN-Q is an Emmy nominated poet, multi-platinum songwriter, world renowned speaker and best-selling author. His work explores various themes including mental & emotional health, growth, acceptance, purpose, empowerment and love.

Wayne Price is an Emmy winning filmmaker and content creator with a career focus on music and community. He’s collaborated with world renowned artists (Jon Batiste, Mark Ronson) and brands (Starbucks, Bose) with a style that cuts through flash to highlight the authentic imperfection of life.

Niceaunties · Sora Showcase

Singaporean artist Niceaunties uses AI for “an art project about aging, beauty, freedom & fun, and an attempt to understand ‘auntie culture’” based in south-east and east Asia. Outside of this project, she is an architectural designer.

“Sora is at its most powerful when the interactive process feels almost like working alongside another human. The creations are incredible because of its ability to fill in details and craft uncanny visuals that blur the line between reality and illusion. It makes you question: What is real?!

What excites me the most is the ‘human-ness’ of the characters, particularly their facial expressions and the emotions they convey. There is immense potential for these visuals to forge strong emotional connections, making it an incredibly powerful communication tool. I also learn from the way Sora interprets prompts—the more I engage with it, the more I learn. I love that I am constantly learning while creating!

In this film Auntie bought some eggs from a mysterious vendor at the market, driven by food cravings intensified by the full moon’s energy. To her surprise, mini aunties hatched from the eggs, throwing big Auntie’s life into delightful chaos. Suddenly, with a squad of tiny assistants by her side, every aspect of Auntie’s life was meticulously taken care of. But one day, just as mysteriously as they had arrived, the mini aunties departed, and the egg stall vanished from the market. ”

David Sheldrick · Sora Showcase

David Sheldrick is a British Korean artist based in London, a graduate of the London College of Fashion in Fashion Photography, with a keen interest in image assembly, nature, and technology.

“Sora is most powerful when creating new worlds & new physics. Just how real it can be, especially when creating humans, was really a ‘we have arrived’ moment. I have used a lot of different AI tools but nothing has yet come close to the realism of Sora.

I had to adapt my creative process somewhat, it took a few weeks to accept that I will have to reconsider the way I work to make sure im getting the best out of Sora, but once I went through that period of exploration and maybe friction at time, it opened up a totally new level of creative output.

I started my career as a photographer, shooting backstage at fashion shows, being a fly on the wall capturing these tall glamorous creatures slinking through the different stations backstage. This video piece is a throwback to those beginnings in photography and those proving grounds that set my trajectory for the rest of my life.”

Steven Schardt · Sora Showcase

Steven Schardt is a filmmaker and creative technologist, focusing on AI and its applications in arts and education.

“Sora produces images of striking reality and surreality, both represented in this video, which began as an attempt to recreate some family history in West Virginia in 1934, but quickly pivoted to a very different, and utterly fictional short. Working with Sora feels improvisational. You give it direction and it gives that back, sometimes with some other ideas, or a different emphasis. A sense of wonder and amazement colors the process. Often it's an image, unexpectedly beautiful, or unexpectedly strange, that leads to further exploration and discovery. Ultimately, the process feels like a collaboration between our intentions and a field of dreams.”

Alexia Adana · Sora Showcase

@alexiaadana‬ is a creative director and cross disciplinary artist working with photo, video, 3D, and AI tools.

“Bloomchild" is a coming of age sci-fi film concept that emerged from my own experiences growing up as a first-generation child in the suburbs of Connecticut. There weren’t many other kids that looked or behaved like me. I often felt isolated and misunderstood, not fitting neatly into any group.

My journey of self-acceptance was marked by the struggle to find belonging, while also grappling with the unique aspects of my identity - being an artsy nerd, a tomboy, and an introvert. It wasn't until high school and college, through photography and growing self-confidence, that I began to embrace my differences as creative superpowers.

"Bloomchild" is a celebration of self-acceptance and the beauty of diversity, reflecting the transformative power of embracing one's uniqueness. My hope is to make “Bloomchild” a reality with creative partners and studios who resonate with the story’s message and want to support its creation.

Caroline Rocha · Sora Showcase

Caroline Rocha is a self-proclaimed “AI degenerated artist” and AR Metaspark Partner.

“As a stroke survivor who lost the mobility of the hand, expressing myself has been hard and Sora allows me to put my ideas, feelings (good and bad) on a screen. It became the hand I lost. My goal with Sora and AI in general is to go against realism, to create what doesn’t exist. I want people to dive into the unknown and maybe embrace that there's beauty in weirdness.”

SMS3D · Sora Showcase

We’re continuing to slowly expand Sora testing to more creatives (digital VFX pioneers, architects, choreographers, engineering artists, and creative entrepreneurs) to help us understand the model's capabilities and limitations, shaping the next phase of research to create increasingly safe AI systems over time. While access is still extremely limited while safety testing is underway, we wanted to celebrate these artists’ work with their reflections on how they use Sora in their process. (The underlying visuals were generated solely with Sora without any VFX, but artists added sound and edited using traditional filmmaking software.)

@sms3d‬ is a design studio and creative consultancy specializing in 3D animations and video direction, founded in Berlin by Frieda Femfert and Till Dumke. They used Sora to pilot their "Neoteric Nature" series exploring the intersection of technology and nature, with support from graphic designer Lena Manger and sound artist Manuel Fischer. “Sora can surprise you with beautifully surreal creations… In terms of subject matter, we found that to arrive at something surreal or detached from reality we had to go through many iterations… The creative process definitely becomes more explorative. Instead of creating a whole picture of what we want to create in advance, we start with an idea and kind of go exploring from there. Sometimes it can be hours of testing and trying but then, once you find something that works it can be magical.”

Chris Kittrell, known by his stage name @babyalpaca‬ is a Los Angeles/Colorado based musician who crafts AI-generated visual art and immersive environments for his music. With his music video for "Shadows," Kittrell uses Sora to create a surreal journey through a brutalist-style castle, exploring different realms of a dream world featuring 113 AI-prompted clips and 20 filmed overlays. “Sora allowed me to create locations and character actions to tell my narrative in ways that would have been impossible with a crew of one and a limited budget.”

(The underlying visuals were generated solely with Sora without any VFX, but artists added sound and edited using traditional filmmaking software.)

@charlottetriebus2800‬ is a performance artist using art and technology to influence her dance and movement practice. In this project, she worked with Sora to create unexpected forms inspiring the choreography and movement for her dance collective. “I bring Sora's understanding of movement into the rehearsal, alluding to a dimension that comes from agents that have no human form. My dancers then either study and elaborate on Sora’s proposals or respond to them to create a communication between dimensions.”

Danielle Baskin (@djbaskin‬) is a product designer, situation designer, visual artist, and founder of @entermoonlight‬ a virtual platform for Tarot. In this project, she used Sora to generate video interpretations of a classic major arcana Tarot deck that you can try on their website. “Working with Sora feels a lot like making things inside a dream,” she shared. “The results are otherworldly, unexpected, and they often bend the rules of physics, but that's the beauty! Each video becomes a poetic, evocative part of a grander story, but doesn't quite exist. It's a glimpse into what-if.”

“I'm excited about Sora, not simply as a visual prototyping tool, but as a creative instigator. For me, it feels more like visiting a surrealist museum than pulling out a sketchbook.”

Tammy Lovin is a digital artist and creative director of Tammy Studio, specializing in 3D and emerging technology within XR and AI. “What I love most about Sora is that I feel like I am co-creating with it… It feels like teamwork, in the smoothest and most idealistic way possible. Not being on a solo journey has been pretty significant to me.” The experience has catalyzed new creative processes for her. “It feels a bit like magic to me, being able to actually show in video form what, until now, I was only picturing in my imagination. Ever since I was a kid, I kind of had these montages and surreal visuals about certain things I was seeing in reality, and I’d picture them differently. But since I didn’t become a producer or director, they never really came to life until now. So this is a dream come true.”

Benjamin Desai is a creative technologist and digital artist focused on AR and cofounder of Radical Realities, an award-winning immersive studio.  “Excited to share this imaginative look into an alternate past powered by Sora. Blending early 20th-century film aesthetics with whimsical scenarios and placing animals in unexpected roles. This work aims to ignite a sense of wonder while showcasing the potential of today's technology. Creating with Sora is still an experimental process, involving a lot of iteration and fine-tuning. It's much more of a human-AI collaboration than a magic button solution. Check out these fascinating animals and the joy of asking 'what if?'”

"Exploring space-time with Sora. This isn't going to replace the filmmaking process, rather, it's offering an entirely new way of thinking about it. Not restricted by time, money, or other people's permission, I can ideate and experiment in bold and exciting ways.

Generated with one long unwieldy prompt (except for the tunnel at the end is another clip.)" -@paultrillo2619‬

Underwater Sora Exploration · Made by Josephine Miller with Sora

"Sora has opened up the potential to bring to life, ideas that for years were technically impossible to achieve. The ability to rapidly develop high-quality concepts, is revolutionizing my creative process and storytelling, allowing me to manifest my imagination with fewer technical restrictions.

I've been fascinated by how I'm able to bend light around glass-like materials, unveiling the delicate play of refraction in submerged garments. This journey has pushed the boundaries of my imagination, giving me the creative freedom to blend diverse materials and compositions that were only dreams before." - @josephine.miller‬

Beyond Our Reality · Made by Don Allen Stevenson with Sora

"I’m so excited to unveil something truly groundbreaking in collaboration with OpenAI: a glimpse into the future of storytelling with Sora technology.

In this trailer, we explore a parallel world Beyond our Reality, where the boundaries of imagination are expanded, bringing to life a few creatures I have dreamed up. What you’re seeing is not traditional footage but the result of cutting-edge AI-generated video technology that blurs the lines between reality & fantasy. I tried to ground my outputs in something kind of familiar like animals, but also something that was currently impossible in biology, these hybrid creatures.

As we step into this new era, I understand the apprehension surrounding the rapid evolution of our creative industries. I really think Sora offers a different kind of visual canvas, expanding my creative possibilities and complementing my different creative crafts. I have always been a one-person creative studio, so there were inherent limits to what I could create alone. With Sora I feel I can tell stories at a scale I didn’t think was possible before.

As I continue to be an early artist, working with Sora, I promise to be mindful of its profound impact. I will continue to share knowledge about it in an educational, creative capacity.

I feel like we are unlocking a new era of creative storytelling that we have never been able to imagine collectively before! Stay curious and creative!!!" -@DonAllenIII‬ www.instagram.com/donalleniii

Worldweight Official Music Video • Made by August Kamp with Sora

"i feel like this piece of art is my absolute heart and soul. i remember the way i felt when these notes tumbled through my hands and onto the keys of my synthesizer almost two years ago. i remember how it rained outside and how i felt so lucky to be able to pour these feelings into a song - something that could hold onto them so i didn't have to anymore. i closed my eyes while i played - something rare for me as i don't know my keys all too well - but i closed my eyes and i saw pictures in my mind.

this is what Sora is best for - in my opinion. taking these pictures that i've held onto for two years and saying "august - we can share these with folks". that's what i think is special about this tool. i get to share what was once locked behind my shut eyes - all alone.

which is to say - this is how the song has always "looked", it's just that now i get to show you." - @augustkamp‬

Introducing Sora — OpenAI’s text-to-video model

Introducing Sora, our text-to-video model.

Sora can create videos of up to 60 seconds featuring highly detailed scenes, complex camera motion, and multiple characters with vibrant emotions.

We’ll be taking several important safety steps ahead of making Sora available in OpenAI’s products. We are working with red teamers — domain experts in areas like misinformation, hateful content, and bias — who are adversarially testing the model.

All the clips in this video were generated directly by Sora without modification.
